On February 14, 2025, Stephen Haedicke was honored to act as a moderator and presenter on a panel discussing Mediation in Civil Rights Cases Big and Small, at the 2025 Civil Rights Etouffee conference in New Orleans. The other participants on the panel were the Hon. Judge Bernice Donald (Ret.), who is currently a full time mediator and formerly served as a judge on the federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals; Hon. Magistrate Judge Karen Wells Roby of the Eastern District of Louisiana; and Rachel Terry, division director for the Utah Division of Risk Management. The panel discussed some of the special and challenging characteristics of civil rights cases, and the most effective strategies for resolving them during a mediation or settlement conference. Mr. Haedicke was thankful for the opportunity to host and learn from such esteemed attorneys and judges. Photos below!
